Jodie Hughes, LMT -- Owner and Director
A 2019 graduate of the Marquette School of Therapeutic Massage, Jodie returned to school twenty years after receiving her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois Springfield. This is her fourth career. She started as a day care teacher before raising her children. In between motherhood, she ran a non-profit youth sports league with her husband.
After moving to the U.P. ten years ago with her husband and four children, she fell in love with the greenest earth and bluest skies she'd ever seen. As an amateur photographer, she tried to capture that essence and pass that serenity to others through Earth & Sky Photography. It also gave her time to hone her writing skills. Accepting a contract through a traditional publishing company, she spent her days polishing her craft, and her first books were marketed through Crimson Frost.
Six years later, after nursing her teenage son through brain cancer, she wanted to do something to provide people with comfort, relaxation, and relief. She spent a year becoming licensed in massage therapy to do just that. Using Traditional Swedish massage techniques, she can help you relax, rejuvenate, and heal tired and sore muscles. She is trained in a variety of modalities including focused work, deep tissue, sports massage, focused Theragun sessions, pregnancy massage, and basic relaxation. She also does our cupping therapy, hot stones, and our hand and foot therapies.
In her spare time, she escapes the real world by writing novels in a variety of genres. A published author since 2015, she's written eleven novels to date. Someone once told her she'd have to give up writing when she got her LMT, but she told the person, "I can't stop writing. There are too many stories in my head to keep them bottled up."
