Massage Therapy
If you've never had a massage, you haven't experienced complete relaxation. Very few healing therapies are as relaxing--and yet invigorating--as massage. As trained massage therapists, we strive to help our clients relax and relive pain caused from stress often carried in backs, shoulders, arms, legs, etc. Here are some of the other wonderful benefits of our trade.
Paraffin Therapy
Thermal therapy using paraffin treatments isn't a new concept in bodywork. For the last fifty years, therapists have used this technique to help relieve pain from osteoarthritis and sore muscles. Not only can we dip your hands and feet, we can place strips on joints to help your mobility. Here are some added benefits to paraffin dips:
Cupping Therapy |
- Eliminates toxins: A cupping massage is an effective way to get rid of toxins from the body. When a vacuum is created in the cup, a negative pressure is applied. This pressure affects the tissues four inches below the skin’s surface, which helps in the release of toxins. The pressure is also effective in removing blockages in the various body systems like the circulatory system.
- Improved circulation: Increased blood circulation can also be brought about by cupping. The suction created in the cupping massage forces blood to flow to the massaged area. The increased circulation also increases the energy flow and activates the lymphatic system.
- Pain relief: A cupping massage helps reduce inflammation of tissues. This can help increase range of motion, improve flexibility, and control pain.
- Mental benefits: A cupping massage also has therapeutic benefits like decreasing anxiety and depression. It is believed that the happy hormone ‘serotonin’ is released during the massage, which helps bring about relaxation.
Chaga--Tea, Scrubs, etc.
Native to the cold northern climates, chaga is a tough, woody, parasitic mushroom that grows specifically on birch trees. The Ojibway used it for its medicinal properties, and it is a mainstay of Upper Peninsula Culture. Chaga tea will always be available in our spa, and we use it in scrubs and wraps too. Here are the wonderful benefits:
*Reduces inflammation and boosts the immune system.
*Has been used as a homeopathic remedy to fight such things as
cancer, digestive diseases, and other ailments.
*Relieves pain, stops muscle spasms, and slows the aging and
destruction of cartilage.
*Stimulates the removal of toxins from the joints

Infrared Sauna
There’s nothing quite like a 20-minute sweat session in a sauna. The Finnish swear by them. You feel more relaxed and rested afterward, and the heat helps relieve sore muscles and improves your overall health and well-being. If the high temperatures of a traditional sauna are too much, an infrared sauna may offer the benefits of a traditional sauna without the extreme heat.
Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared saunas don’t heat the air around you. Instead, they use infrared lamps (that use electromagnetic radiation) to warm your body directly. Supporters of infrared saunas say the heat penetrates deeper than warmed air. This allows you to experience a more intense sweat at a lower temperature. Here are some of the added benefits sitting in our infrared sauna might bring:
